I have been a huge fan of this fic since the first three chapters. BTW, kudos on the quick update... life is good. The characters are so well written, descriptions and sceneries add color and depth to the moments, I feel, we share with them. Due to my ever present personal fear of overkill, I was initially very wary of the story progressing farther than Ch. 7. I felt right there... it was a completed fic. Yet I continued to follow, still immersed in this world of Mariko's design. And it has been enjoyable following them on their adventure through Canada. From the wilds of the city to the wilderness of the vast forests, a good ride to tag along with. The lake scene was breathtaking. But with this chapter, and its unexpected flashback arc... here we go again! Please do not make us wait too soon.

When walking along a path, eventually you come to a crossroads, a fork perhaps. And you don't know which to follow, the path of least resistance? Or where your heart wishes to follow - potentially trecherous and perhaps more scenic route? So you scratch your head and weigh pros and cons. Meanwhile you've slowed down just enough to notice your surroundings, the atmosphere. The quiet moment before the storm. That's this chapter. You know, for a moment, this story felt like two standalone pieces. The beginning with their strange unorthodox sort of courtship and then this second half, ripping and roaring through Canada. The city and their lives there long behind them, nothing but wilderness and freedom ahead. But then, as always, the 'honeymoon' like glow of newfound love is overshone by the bright lightbulb of reality. And we realize as Ororo finally realizes, they don't know each other really at all. And it's the little snapshots of the past that make up the man she loves. She doesn't know his past. She doesn't know him, and ultimately where she would fit in his life now. Then again, Logan can say the same for her. I truly believe that the preceding 13 chapters were simply the background to lead up to that crucial moment in the end of Chapter 14. What is stronger? Love or inate survival? Can wild things be tame enough to accept each other, good and bad? Can we be forgiven for our past in order to create a future? Here we are as readers, with bated breath, hoping and praying yet still extremely anxious because nothing about these characters are predictable. And so the agony continues. As for structure: The story moved along so quickly and perfectly. We didn't have to see every scene and moment like Smitty leaving to get it. So efficient and moving every well placed piece of conversation and choreography. Excellently done. Our living in both our heroes heads very well played. Especially the last two paragraphs of Ch. 14. Amazing. It's funny, but from Ch.1 to now, not only can one see the progression of the characters we have learned to love, but also the author's progression who we have learned to appreciate more and more with each well thought out and masterful chapter. Although I would love to see a resolution to this conundrum, I am saddened these may be the last few chapters of this novella. HDN has been a joy from the first fist fight to the... AHEM... well you know... :P

Very nicely done. You've opened up areas in the Ro Lo fascination that is usually not expressed. You've left us open and wanting for more of your insight...

You have a wonderful poetic grasp of dialogue. Very romantic. Very moving. Watch out for spelling confusions such as excepting/accepting, Your/You're. Congratulations on completing this piece. It is evident you put a lot of effort and heart into it. The results are impressive.

So I get to the first paragraph and I say to myself, "Self, ", "Yes?" I answer. "This is freakin genious!" After all this time and getting us all into this woman's story, you switch perspective on us to fill in the holes of Logan's behaviour. Seeing her through his eyes. Damn! You are good. It's almost worth THE LONG AGONIZING WAIT FOR THE UPDATE. What a cruel, cruel weaver of webs you are! DigT, I'm loving this. I love male perspective. And I love how you almost perfectly melded the character/relationship dynamics of X-Men into this AU. Absolutely! Keep it coming!
