Logan, Remy, Scott, Bobby, Hank, Warren, Rogue, Jean, Emma, and Ororo all sat in the War Room waiting on the Professor. It had been almost eight months since the X-men had seen any action and the tension among the team was growing. Even practice in the Danger Room was not enough to minimize the growing animosity within the team. The Professor had given up trying to letting them figure it out on their own and called for a meeting to try to get a handle on the situation.

“Good evening everyone. I assume you all understand why I have called this meeting.” The Professor stated as he entered the room.

Everyone looked at Remy, Logan, Emma, and Hank. Three hours earlier, they were running a simulation in the Danger Room when the four actually starting fighting each other for real. No one pulled any punching, especially Logan. The long cut he left on Emma’s face was still red and sore.

“You all will participate . . .”

The Professor paused in anticipation of protest but received none.

“. . . in an exercise designed for you to identify the good you see in each other and hopefully become more respectful towards each other.”

“You will stand up one at a time, then we will go around the table and everyone will say something positive about the person standing. I am sure that there is something that you admire about each other. We will start with Bobby.”

As everyone stood and listened to what the others had to say about them, Storm couldn’t help but to realize what was said about the other women. Beautiful, cute, or sexy was used in the description of them all, expect her. She was called loyal, regal, confident, or compassionate; but never beautiful. She tried not to let it bother her, but it did.

When the exercise was over, everyone saw each other in a whole new light and had a newfound respect for their fellow teammates. None of them notice the slight disappointment on Ororo’s face.

As they exited the War Room, they agreed to go to Harry’s for a night out, but Ororo decided to stay at the mansion. No one questioned why, nor tried to convince her to come with them. This made Ororo feel even more depressed. Not only was she not much to look at, but no one wanted to be around her.

She slowly made her way up to her loft as the others went to get ready for a night out. On her way upstairs, she decided to go outside instead. ‘Maybe a walk by the lake would make me feel better,’ she thought.

By the Lake

The rain started to fall as Ororo looked out over the lake. She refused to cry and let Mother Nature do it for her.

Logan smelled her before he saw her, but kept his presence a secret. It wasn’t until the rain started to fall that he realized something was wrong with her.

“Am I truly that ugly to them” she said into the night.

Logan couldn’t believe what he just heard. Why would Ororo think she’s ugly? Did some idiot call her that? Logan didn’t even realize he was moving until he placed his hand on her shoulder.

“Are ya’ okay ‘Ro”

As soon as he asked the question, she let out the most quiet, painful sob he’d ever heard. Logan wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her body into his. To his surprise and joy she did not pull away, but rested her head back against his chest. Logan took in a deep breath and smelled her hair.

“What is it ‘Ro? Why are ya’ so upset? Did one of dem assholes say something to ya’?”

“Logan, do you think I’m ugly.” She whispered as she lifted her head from Logan’s shoulder.

If not for his enhanced hearing, he would not have heard her.

“No, why would ya’ ask me that?”

“Do you think men find me attractive?”

“’Ro what’s going on here? You’re gorgeous darlin’.”

Logan looked down into her face and could not understand why she was asking him these ridiculous questions. He also didn’t like the thought of other men finding her attractive.

“Earlier in the War Room, all of the men mentioned how beautiful, cute, or sexy Rogue, Jean, and Emma were. Not one of you said the same about me; therefore, I must not be attractive to any of you.” She said as she pushed him away from her.

As she tried to walk away, Logan grabbed her arm and turned around to face him. She immediately looked up at the sky. Logan looked down at her and couldn’t help but notice how incredibly beautiful she was. That silvery mane and those heart-stopping blue eyes contrasted beautifully against her pecan-caramel complexion. Add the tiny drops of water falling down her face and she was every man’s wet dream come true.

Logan had no idea what came over him, but he lowered his head and licked at the water currently running down her swan-like neck. ‘Damn she tastes so good,’ he thought.

As he lifted his head from her neck, Ororo looked into his gray eyes and was lost.

“You’re more than beautiful ‘Ro. Words can’t describe how gorgeous ya’ are to me. Let me show you.”

Logan immediately kissed her lips before she tried to stop him. At first the kiss was slow, but quickly became passionate as Logan nibbled on Ororo’s bottom lip to get her to open up for him. When she did he immediately pushed his tongue into her mouth. ‘Fuck, she tastes so damn good,’ Logan thought as he pulled her body completely into his.

Logan reluctantly pulled his lips away from her. As he looked into her eyes again, he knew. She did not know it yet, but she was his and he would never let her go.
