This story always has this kind of sad undertone because you know that most of the people are gone, but yet at the same time you get so wrapped up into Logan's memory that you forget and just go for the ride.

Excellent Cee.

Author's Response: Glad you're following me on this crazy ride, girl. I like movies that start with the main character acting as the narrator. I don't know why. Amadeus, Titanic, Fried Green Tomatoes. They all get me. Thanks for reading and the nice review.

I love this story Cee, it really brings back a old feeling of the golden years. I have not thought of the charecter of Proudstar in a long time but i really dig the way you protray him. The charecter was only around for a few issues so nobody really expanded on him and i think you have done one hell of a job..

Author's Response: You know me, too, buddy, I love old school Claremont stories. Proudstar used to tickle me. I always wondered why they never retconned him or conveniently brought him back when his brother Jimmy is in so many stories now. Thanks for the review,

I think the best parts of this story are when Logan’s old. I dote on those chapters like Matt dotes on Logan. I’ve only read one other story where he was old, either Philip or W6C wrote it I think. A very good story too, one reason because it hadn’t been done before. So many of the same plots have been done over and over that sometimes stories can feel like the latest retread and they all kind of blend in together but not here in the least.

In Fix Me and this one you mentioned Stevie and I’m wondering if it’s Stevie Hunter. If so I’m again beyond thrilled. For some reason I just like the idea of stories including past and present members and people that were involved in the X-Men’s lives as well as Marvel’s characters that would feasibly fit. I don’t really want to see the Power Pack gang in a RoLo – lol – but other than that it’s always a delight when an author includes key figures from the Marvel Universe.

I found the John and Ororo interaction fascinating. For a moment I thought this could actually work but then his conversation with Logan after the kiss in the hall and I’m thinking just what Logan called him - a$$hole and yet John’s so rough, just like Logan, I can see why they had to eliminate him, rather redundant but still I can’t help enjoying how you write him. Piss or get off the pot – damn! That’s brutal and humorous honesty to boot. I was however surprised when he gave in so easily saying he’d apologize but maybe I wouldn’t like him so much if there wasn’t a sense of honor to him or at least a sense of right and wrong. I will say this, Cee you wrote him so sexy I might have had to start fanning myself if it had gone on any longer. That amuses me but it’s also a good sign of a good author, that and I have a think for big (or short), bad men. You can keep the girly metro men thank you very much – well, except Legolas and Remy. Okay I’m babbling.

Alrighty then! Now why didn’t anyone at Marvel see what you’ve so clearly shown us? I mean you have one woman on the new team and seven males, the woman’s half dressed and fine! Someone’s going to be interested if not a few of them. I did like how Claremont had them appreciate her beauty though and had Peter looking out for her, even getting furious with Logan for his snotty attitude towards her. At first it seemed as if Claremont was leaning towards a Peter Ororo hookup but then again over the years there was always that inkling of an Ororo Logan hookup – damn Jean. I’m just kidding about Jean, I like her, probably always will though how Ororo can stand her constantly going on in her head like an annoying child (bouncing up and down – very funny, I could really see her doing that in her excitement) is beyond me. Privacy Jean – please!

But there’s something charming about the childish behavior you have going on here. Jean’s fun, the guys racing to sit next to the cute girl, oh what a laugh I got out of that! That has to be my favorite part, in fact one of the best little scenes I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading in fandom. I’m still chuckling at the memory. Overall a wonderful and fun chapter that I’ll remember for a long time to come!

Author's Response: Man, that was great. I love how you review and read me in such detail, Darlene! Makes me happy when people note all the little nuances and fiddly bits that I toss into a story, or get the same value I do out of them. Proudstar, what can I say about him? I always thought he was interesting and funny, even though he was crass. I think that X-Force did a good job (for a sub-par comic) of creating a great character in his brother Jimmy. I always thought they could have, or even should have given John that treatment, too. The scenes with Matt...man. Those tend to come to me easily, and I also like the idea of an old Logan. I don't think I read W6C's story or Phil's where he's old, but if you find a link, shoot it my way. But yeah, Jean. I've never been a Jean hater, but I think she's sometimes overexposed and overhyped. I just like their friendship. Her bickering with Ororo in some of those Classic issues was cool. Or even the Inferno scene where they're fighting and Ororo suddenly says "it's good to see you again, Jean." I love that. I don't like writing metro males, either. They just don't appeal to me, except to parody, like Pietro in Money Dance. I hope you stick around for more silly scenes. I love writing them.

Hellfire! Damn, i love this story! And i love the competition between John and Logan. Update soon!

Author's Response: I'm glad you like it so far, since you inspired it, kiddo. I hope you like the updates, when I have some.

I'm with Jean here, this is getting good :D
Love the pissing contest between John and Logan! Logan should take matters in his own hands now though. Enough is enough ;)
The telepathic conversations between Ro and Jean keep cracking me up.
Old Logan is coming closer to finally being with Ro again, right? Tiny details make me feel that way...

Author's Response: Logan and John...aren't they a pair of hardheads? There will be more girl talk between Ro and Jeannie. I've always been ambivalent about Jean, but I like when she and Ro are friends. Logan is definitely nearing the end of the road. I want to tell his story. Thanks for reading, Steph.

“Hey, I’m WALKIN’ here!” Ah, Midnight Cowboy. Classic.

This chapter was all types of delicious. The Ororo/John kiss, the Logan/John pissing contest, Jean and 'Ro's telepathic convos, Sean/Moira flirting and Shiro sulking about all made me grin like an idiot. Now Kitty's coming and the White Queen wants her! YAY!

Update when you can, Cee! (Preferably soon...)

Author's Response: I was waiting for someone to notice that line! Glad you liked this.

What have you done? I actually like Jean in this. WHY?? I don't like John. But it doesn't help that I keep thinking of Pyro for this John and then get all confused.

I love how Logan is all protective of 'Ro. So cute.

Can Gambit show up? That'll just be fun :)

Author's Response: Because most people who really can't stand Jean have only really seen her in the recent comics, post Grant Morrison, when she became a whiny little girl. Or, the movie, or Evo. Back when Claremont and Lobdell wrote her, she was nicer, funny, and vulnerable. So, I'm trying (probably badly) to recapture that here. Sorta. Glad you like Logan in this! Gambit? Eh. I have a hard time writing him in anything. Maybe toward the end.

Hmm...Ororo in the middle of a triangle o' love. Sweet! I wonder how the Hellfire club got the drop on them. Good chapter.

Author's Response: That was kinda in the comics, too. They tapped into Cerebro, more or less. I don't know if you ever read the New Mutants books, but Emma had a whole class of mutants called the Hellions. I liked writing the love triangle. It's fun to see Ororo on the receiving end of it for a change. Thanks, Tiger.

This, Jean gloated, is getting good.

I couldn't agree with her more.
Excellent work, CeeCee!

Author's Response: Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully it will get better!

Okay, gotta love the rooster dance between Logan an' John. Can't say as I blame them, but I think Logan should just skewer Proudstar an' be done with it. Yeh.

Great chapter. Full of conflict an' character study which I love. You didn't get back to the home though... would like to see Matt's reaction to these particular stories. Will be waitin' for the next chapter! Great job, Cee!!

-- W6C

Author's Response: I love the term "rooster dance" and wish I had come up with it! Anyway, Proudstar is hardheaded, but he has his good qualities. 'Course, Logan and John never had much of a chance to strike up a friendship in the original book...and that's all I'm gonna say. And I took my cue from your review, and fixed it!
