Sheesh! That is rough, what a sad scenario. Infidelity and a long standing friendship...I look forward to the promised back-story on that. :) Good start.

I nearly cried reading this, but I can't wait to see what happens. I can't wait to see the movie (it's not out in the UK, darn it!) it looks so good!

The mood you set with the burned dinner was perfect, since I can visualize it, and you can feel right along with Ro her unease as she turns on the TV. The exposition is different than your usual writing. I enjoyed this. The image of the uncut yard works, too, since it's like this metaphor of how everything fell apart when Scott died. Well done.
