Ooohhh, I had a feeling when Jean and Logan felt this chill... I knew something bad was going to happen. Poor guy. He just lost everything. Losing your whole family, that's one of the most horrible things I can think of. *shakes thoughts away*
I so feel for him. Make him feel better soon, Cee! *makes puppy dog eyes*
Can't wait until Ro and Logan meet again. This time under much better circumstances I hope :)

Author's Response: I can't resist puppy dog eyes, just ask my kids and my husband. I want him to feel better, too. I like him too much. Their circumstances will improve eventually...it might take a while. But they will continue to meet.

Oh man....... yer killin' me here. My heart's poundin' an' frankly had to stop myself from fallin' on my knees when his knees buckled. Got me puttin' myself in Logan's spot here an' to say i'ts breakin' my freakin' heart here would be puttin' it mildly. Just so ya'know, my girl squeaked an' gasped for breath from the long intense hug I just gave her.

Of course now I have to explain why since she's lookin' at me with those big brown doe eyes full of concern... man oh man.

Killin' me Cee..... yer killin' me. --- W6C

Author's Response: We've all had moments in our lives like that where something knocked us completely off balance and sent the blood rushing all the way down to our feet. No one wants to find themselves in Logan's spot, and it was hard for me to basically make him lose everything he loved, but it drives this story. We'll see him rebuilding his life and Ororo helping him. And intense hugs are a good thing, give her another one!! I'm glad that part of the story worked. *no heart attacks, though, just breathe...pretty please???*

I was almost a little sad when Jean died. But I think I was more sad that Logan was sad than because of Jean.

and I LOVE Secondhand Lions!

Author's Response: Logan was definitely crushed when Jean and Gayle were taken away from him, but they aren't the focus of the story, just the catalyst for the rest of it. I love that movie, too. It's so cute! I love the two old men driving off the salesmen with the shot gun. Priceless.

So tragic, but it was beautifully written. I'm a fan of death in fanfic. I may not always like who dies, but it's good for some stories. Poor Logan and Gayle. How are they surviving without Jean?

In the present, Gayle is probably a teen. I wonder how she'll cope with Ororo when she and Logan start to develop a relationship. No one can replace your mother.

Love that Ororo takes the bus home. It makes her real to me. A struggling single parent whose life is totally devoted to her baby girl. She reminds me of my mother.

Thanks for this, Cee! Can't wait to read more.

Author's Response: Gayle's not actually surviving, so sorry to ramp up the death factor in this story, but it was something that hit me in this story when I started it: How would Logan deal with it if he lost everything? But you're absolutely right. No one can replace your mother, or your wife and daughter, for that matter. But you can still make room in your heart to love someone new. Ororo taking the bus was an element to her character that I wanted to use, not necessarily through the whole story. But Ororo as a single mom and a nurse is pretty much straight out of my childhood. Glad you have read this so far! Thanks for visiting.

I never thought I'd say this when she's paired with Logan, but I really hate Jean died. That was sad. And the opening talking about Gayle's hands and the different stages in which Logan had held them was a heartbreaker. You're killing me Cee, but I want more.

Author's Response: Awwwwwww...I know, I'm evil, but that scene nagged me to let it out. I see Logan as being a very hands-on dad (unlike Marvel, who are doing their level best to make him have lots of kids he doesn't know about...I hate Marvel right now). So this was pretty much it. Guy's destroyed, so the rest of this story is him picking up the pieces, and Ororo, to some extent, doing the same. I'm glad you have read along with me so far. Thanks for the feedback.

Am I wrong to say I loved the end exceedingly?

Author's Response: *snicker* Well, don't enjoy it too much!!! It's just funny; first, everyone said "ewwww, Logan and JEAN! Yuck! I'm not reading this!" Now, I'm being told "well, you didn't have to KILL her!" Try to please all, and you please NONE! (grin) But I'm still glad you enjoyed it!

Poor Logan, what an awful way to find out about his wife's death. And his kid doesn't make it either...dang! 'Ro's life seems a teeny bit complicated too. I look forward to seeing how these two intersect again. Thanks for the update! :)

Author's Response: Initially, I thought of having Logan find out from whatever highway patrolmen were on the scene, but I thought, would that happen in real life? Back when my mom got sick two years ago, they called me at work from the ER, and my heart just about stopped!!!! And they had the nerve to leave me a VOICE MAIL!!! I drew on that a little for that scene. 'Ro's life is going to become very complicated, and they will meet again very soon. Thanks for reading, Burnz.

Oh man. This is one of the saddest chappies I've ever had the pleasure of reading. When it's finished, I'm adding it to the "For those who like to cry" thread.

And waddaya mean "She was all she had"???
*looks around suspiciously*

Author's Response: Ha. Yeah, that last line lent itself to a cliffhanger, eh? I'm glad this one moved you. Thanks!

Author's Response: Love these reviews!! (hee) I can relate to that a little since my middle kid had pneumonia that kept him in the pedes unit for two whole weeks. Glad you got to read this and visit, Hobbins.
