No matter what Jean did she couldn't get away from it. Logan and Ororo spent
time together. They'd go get ice cream with the kids, to the movies or talk for
hours in the garden. She didn't like it, she didn't like Ororo, she was sure
that she had an ulterior motive. Jean's frustration didn't go unnoticed by
Scott or how close his friend was getting to Ororo.

Scott thought it was time to have a talk with Logan about Ororo and Jean.

-I'm to too heavy to be doing all this running.-

-Big baby-

-Yeah right, what's up Scotty you hate to hear me bitch, so why'd you ask me to
run?-

-Ororo.- He said.

-What about her?-

-Jean's jealous.- Scott told him.

Logan stopped.

-Ah Scotty.- He started.

-Hear me out. It took us a long time to settle our difference, mostly about
Jean. You loved her, now she's my wife, and you've accepted that. Thank you,
but.- Logan cut him off.

-But Scotty I- Scott raised his hand.

-Logan, you need to let her go, you need to have a life, a family everything
Jean and I want at least when she's paying attention. Ororo is a good woman
she's proven that. Do you like her?-

-Yes.-

-Could you love her?-

-Yes.-

-Then let me tell you this much. Don't let Jean ruin anything you could have
with Ororo. Don't put Ororo second, put her first. Jean will get the hint in
time, trust me.-

-Thanks Scotty, was that your blessing?-

-Yeah old man it was. Now go away so I can run in peace.-

Logan found Ororo in the garden with the Professor. He had a sappy grin on his
face like he always did around her, the entire team was still trying to figure
out how she did it. Ideas went from fatherly pride, to dirty, Remy's thoughts
of course. Logan leaned toward fatherly pride and friendship due the type of
woman Ororo was. With her even a man like Charles didn't have to be professor X
all the time and that was comforting. That was one of the things he liked about
her.

-Hi.- Ro smiled.

-Hey darlin, I wanna ask ya somethin'.-

-Go ahead.- She said arching a brow.

-Come with me to the ball.-

-Ball?- She said looking at the professor confused.

-Yes, Senator Clinton is having a ball, it’s thanks to her supporters for their
re-election contributions. It’s a chance to dress-up.- Xavier answered for him.

-Oh really how long do I have?- she asked.

-For?- Logan said confused.

-To make a dress.-

-Is that a yes?- Logan asked.

-No.- She said rolling her eyes.

-You have a week Ororo.- Xavier said smiling at Logan's discomfort.

-Thanks Charlie.- Ro said.

-I still didn't hear yes.- Logan said annoyed.

-Yes Logan I will go with you.-

-Good. You have a week to make your dress.- Ro growled at him.

Ro came into the kitchen with Marie, Jean, Jubilee and Kitty sitting and
talking. They where talking about Jubilee and Kitty becoming active members of
team after they graduate. She didn't flinch when it sounded like she was being
replaced. She knew that they where just trying to make her uncomfortable. Ororo
chose to the bigger women and ignore them.

She'd gotten the fabric for her dress and was more than excited about going
with Logan. She didn't know why, she'd probably been to more of these things
than the whole team put together. It was Logan of that she was sure. Logan
dragged himself in after her and sighed.

-Ladies.- Logan said sitting at the table.

-Hi mister Logan, what the matter with you?- Kitty said.

-Women and shopping.- he sighed.

Ro snorted.

-Lightweight.- Ro said grabbing a glass of orange juice.

-You dragged me all over New York Ro.- he protested.

-Sorry, Featherweight.- She batted her eyes at him.

-12 stores.- he growled.

-That's all you went to. I make Bobby and Remy come with us to at least 20.-
Marie declared.

-You didn't even have to hold my purse or bags.- Ro pointed out.

-Why can't you women just get it, and call it lunch.- he wined.

-We had lunch Logan. You had half a raw cow.- Ro said.

-You had the other half.- he snapped.

-What where you shopping for?- Jean finally asked annoyed.

-Shoes?- Kitty asked.

-That and fabric.- Logan said.

-Fabric?- Jean asked.

-Ro's gonna make her dress for the ball.-

They all looked at Logan.

-I don't recall her being invited.- Jean said.

-I invited her Jean. She's my date and that fabric she picked was very nice.-

He wiggled his eyebrows at the girls.

-Silk always is. I'd better go get started on the dress.-

Ro walked out.

-Logan why did you invite her?- Jean asked angry.

-Because I didn't have an date Jeannie and I wanted her to come with me.-

-But.- Logan held up his hand.

-Jean please stop and leave her alone.-

Logan stalked off and Jean looked around the room. Maybe she needed to take a
different approach to this.

/X-Men, I need you./

They gathered in the Professors office.

-It would seem that we have a problem with some mutants in a small town on the
Canadian border. I would like you all to go and help them. With as little
violence as is necessary. I would prefer none at all.-

Ororo got to fly the X-jet, Scott was very impressed with her skill, until
Logan told him that she was qualified pilot for most military fighter plains.
They got to the town were a small group of mutants where held up in a house
surrounded by men with guns. Most of them where mutant haters and would shot at
anything that moved. Scott decided that a diversion was in order.

-Storm, a diversion.- Scott ordered.

-What would you like?- she asked.

-Doesn’t matter, what ever you do it has to be loud and distracting.-

-I need to get to high ground for that.- she told him.

-Remy go with her.- Scott said Remy nodded.

The rest of the team waited for Ororo to make her move once in place. Ro
thought about it, a rainstorm should do the trick. The sky rumbled and at first
it was slow, then it got heavy, the wind picked up. Logan and Beast moved in
first, making sure the path was clear for Scott to blast open the basement
doors. Logan went in and Kurt was waiting for them with the family. They moved
down the back path when someone yelled out. Jean held them off as best she
could, once the family was safe in the jet. Scott called Remy and Ororo, as
they made their way back to the jet, a blast of lighting come out of nowhere
striking a truck and knocking a few of the humans unconscious.

-What did you that for?- Jean asked shocked.

-Do what for?- Ro said confused.

-Why did you strike them? We have the family.- Jean yelled.

-Get on the plane Jean.- Ro said.

They got to the plan as the men began to shot. Logan got hit in the shoulder,
Ororo took off and told Bobby to pilot while she checked on Logan.

-See what you've done.- Jean said pointing at Logan.

-Once again, what did I do?- Ro said

-You fired that bolt.- Jean said.

-You didn't have to do that, we had the family.- Scott pointed out.

-I didn't fire any bolt Scott.- Ro said angry.

-Then who did Ororo? You’re the only one with that power. If we can trust you
not to make situations like these worse we can't trust you at all.- Scott said.

Ro looked around like she'd been slapped stupid. They all had looks of
animosity in there eyes. They all couldn't be that stupid, something so
obvious. Ro sighed and headed to the back of the plain to the computer console,
punching in a few codes.

-Ro, its all right you just lost control.- Henry said.

-Henry I don't lose control in situations, as a matter of fact I've got better
control then all of you.- Ro growled.

She continued to punch in codes and orders.

-What is that?- Henry asked looking over her shoulder.

-Security precaution.- She told him.

-I don't have access to that.- Scott said looking over her other shoulder.

-You wouldn't, only the professor does and an unbiased party.-

-Who?- Scott said.

-Me.-

Ro played back the recorded footage. Breaking down the seconds leading up to
and after the firing of the bolt of lighting. She reviewed what the information
the computer collected. She'd found what she was looking for.

-All I see is the bolt, not who fired it.- Scott said.

-Then your not looking hard enough.- She told Scott.

-Ro.- Logan began.

-Save it.- She snapped.

Ororo got up and walked over to the teenage girl with the family.

-What did they do to you?- Ro asked her.

-Nothing.- The girl said meekly.

-I didn't fire that bolt. The truck it hit belong to some teenage snot, I check
the plates. Did he go to high school with you? Was he a friend that picked on
you after he found out you where a mutant? What? - Ro yelled at her.

-I didn't do it.- the girl began to cry.

-Ororo, I can't believe you'd blame a kid for your mistakes.- Jean said.

-Jean your not helping.- Logan said.

-WELL!- Ro yelled at the girl.

-They attacked me, I just wanted them to know what it feels like.- the girl
cried harder.

-You’re the reason your parents have been held up in that house for days? - Ro
finally said.

-I'm sorry.- The crying girl said to her parents.

Ororo said nothing.
